Wayzata hangs on, beats Duluth East 1-0

The Wayzata Trojans took the lead against the Duluth East Greyhounds in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory.

Maxwell Zimmer provided Wayzata with the game-winning tally when he scored 1:04 into the the first period. Brian Machut picked up the assist.

Aaron Dingman spearheaded the defensive effort for the Trojans, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 26 saves for the shutout. Dingman certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.47 entering the contest.

Wayzata was sparked by Zimmer, who registered one goal.

The Trojans barely challenged the opposing goalie, totaling only 12 shots on target to force 11 saves. Still, the total topped Wayzata's average of 3.2 per game this year.

In addition, Wayzata received assists from Akash Batra, who had one.

Duluth East could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Greyhounds average 5.0 goals per game.

The Trojans incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Duluth East's Dylan Parker stopped 11 shots out of the 12 that he faced. The Greyhounds incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
