Crookston holds on for 2-1 win against Red Wing

The Red Wing Wingers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Crookston Pirates held on for a 2-1 victory.

Crookston took a 2-0 lead during the first period, only to have Red Wing storm back on a Dylan Goggin goal 16:26 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Pirates were sparked by Ryan Edevold, who tallied one goal. Edevold scored on the power play 15:49 into the first period to make the score Crookston. Crookston had gained a power play chance when Alex Rezansoff was whistled for checking from behind. Justin Cameron assisted on the tally.

The Pirates stifled the Wingers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Crookston's offense operated below it season average. The Pirates average 4.1 goals per game. Crookston kept Red Wing's goalie busy throughout the game, and Preston Blaney made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Brady Heppner also scored for Crookston.

In addition, Red Wing received assists from Tristan Rehder, who had one.

Parker Epema recorded 21 saves for the Pirates. Crookston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Wingers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
