Rosemount squeaks by Farmington, 6-4Schmitz-Maki Tue, Dec 04, 2012 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Rosemount Irish escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Farmington Tigers. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Lukas Gillett's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Luke Meade had two goals and one assist to lead Rosemount. Meade scored the first of his two goals at 13:41 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Farmington. Meade's next tally made the score 5-3 Rosemount with 12:03 left in the third period. The Irish earned a power play opportunity when Dan Block was put in the box for cross checking. Gillett assisted on the tally. Rosemount forced Farmington goalie Austin Krause to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The defensemen of the Irish were also effective in the Tigers' zone, and came away with two goals. Rosemount also got points from Gillett, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Rosemount also got a goal from Evan Weiand as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rosemount were Ryan Foley and Anthony Winters, who each chipped in one. Farmington kept Rosemount's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tom Fraune made 38 saves on 42 shots. The Tigers were helped by Justin Hyytinen, who had one goal. Hyytinen scored on the power play 5:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Farmington. A roughing penalty on Gillett had put Farmington on the power play. Kevin Olund provided the assist. Farmington additionally got points from Tanner Grubb, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jack Erickson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chris Fitzgibbo also scored for Farmington. More assists for Farmington came via Devin Bernu and Grant Hauswirth, who contributed one a piece. The Irish totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Krause rejected 29 shots on goal for the Tigers. Farmington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
