Benson's goals lift Hermantown to 4-0 victory over Totino-Grace

Chris Benson had two goals to lead the Hermantown Hawks to a 4-0 victory over the Totino-Grace Eagles.

Benson scored on the power play at 5:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hermantown and again while 4:22 into the second to make the score 3-0 Hermantown.

Hermantown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hermantown averages 6.7 goals per game. The Hawks' defensive effort looked to be improved. Hermantown averages 2.2 goals allowed per game. The Hawks' offense rang up 42 shots on Totino-Grace's net.

Hermantown additionally got points from Nate Pionk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Zach Kramer also scored for Hermantown. Other players who recorded assists for Hermantown were Jared Zeleznikar, who had one, Bo Gronseth, who had two, and Travis Koepke, who had three.

The Eagles were held below their usual level of production. Totino-Grace puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game.

Adam Smith rejected 16 shots on goal for Hermantown. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Rory Davidowski recorded 38 saves for the Eagles. Totino-Grace incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
