Minneapolis survives Robbinsdale Armstrong comeback, wins 6-4

The Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Minneapolis Novas held on for a 6-4 victory.

Minneapolis took a 6-3 lead during the third period, only to have Robbinsdale Armstrong storm back on a Aaron Soper goal 16:41 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Novas were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Minneapolis had been averaging 13.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Novas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Robbinsdale Armstrong power plays. Minneapolis put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.2 it averages per game.

The Novas were led by Henry Christman, who had three goals. Minneapolis additionally got points from Joe Guimont, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Jimmy Roth, who also registered one goal and one assist. Josh Huisken also scored for Minneapolis. In addition, Minneapolis received assists from Tony Pnewski, who had three and Peter Hacker and Cris Grassel, who contributed two a piece.

By firing 29 shots on goal, the Falcons exceeded the 1.3 shot they average per game this year. Robbinsdale Armstrong's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Minneapolis' power play unit.

Robbinsdale Armstrong also got a goal from Cole Goergen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Robbinsdale Armstrong were Ben Hansen, Christopher Arneson, Eric Udelhoven, Brady Johnson, and Cory Gilbert, who each chipped in one.

TJ Moseley rejected 25 shots on goal for the Novas. Grant Mathiason recorded 21 saves for the Falcons. Robbinsdale Armstrong ended with 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
