Centennial beats Maple Grove 5-4 after comeback scareMaple Grove Premier Thu, Jan 24, 2013 The Centennial Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Maple Grove Crimson on the way to a 5-4 win. Centennial took a 5-2 lead during the third period, only to have Maple Grove storm back on a Sam Valerius goal 16:19 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Cougars got the win behind a great game by Kenny Sinna, who had one goal and two assists. Sinna scored 8:53 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Centennial. Hans Gorowsky provided the assist. With 37 shots on target during the contest, Centennial exceeded the 1.2 shot it averages per game this year. Centennial additionally got points from Andrew Bertrand, who also had one goal and one assist. Wyatt Close also scored for Centennial. Other players who recorded assists for Centennial were Ryner Gorowsky, who had two and Jordan Pitlick and Connor Lovick, who each chipped in one. The Crimson put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 3.4 they average per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Maple Grove could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The Crimson were helped by Sam Franta, who registered one goal. Franta scored 12:00 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Centennial. Joe Norenberg assisted on the tally. Maple Grove also got a goal from Nolan Kermode as well. In addition, Maple Grove received assists from Josh Augustine and Austin Ricklefs, who contributed one a piece and Josh Passolt and David Brumm, who each chipped in two. The Cougars' Patrick Munson stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Centennial incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. John Danielson rejected 32 shots on goal for Maple Grove. The Crimson registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
