Champlin Park wins tough contest against Anoka, 4-2

The Champlin Park Rebels and the Anoka Tornadoes were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Champlin Park made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Rebels gained the winning advantage on a goal by Luke Dalman 7:51 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Anoka's power play was ineffective against Champlin Park's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Rebels were led by Dalman, who had one goal and one assist.

Champlin Park also got a goal from Danny Eggerichs as well. In addition, Champlin Park received assists from Bryce Plunkett and Dan Kielb, who each chipped in one.

The the Tornadoes penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 12.0 minutes per game Anoka had been spending in the box.

The Tornadoes were led by Ryan Peterson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Peterson scored 15:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Anoka. Corben Seeger provided the assist. Kristian Manthey also scored for Anoka. Other players who recorded assists for Anoka were Andrew Dallum and Matt Collin, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Nelson made 26 saves for Champlin Park on 28 shots. The Rebels totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Anoka's Robbie Goor stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced.
