Springman lifts Elk River over Robbinsdale Armstrong, 7-2

Chase Springman was all over the ice for the Elk River Elks, as he tallied two goals in Elk River's 7-2 win over the Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons.

Springman found the back of the net 9:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elk River and again while 12:59 into the first to make the score 2-0 Elk River.

The Elks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 6.5 shots per game they average. Elk River outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Elks average 3.7 goals per contest.

Elk River also got points from Blake Hillman, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Andrew Zerban, who also had one goal and one assist, Tim Sandford, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Ben Johnson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Elk River also got a goal from Joe Gonrowski as well. More assists for Elk River came via Jacob Jaremko, who had two and Wyatt Edge, Isaac Schwab, and Grant Bunker, who contributed one a piece.

Robbinsdale Armstrong stifled Elk River's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Falcons were led by Brady Johnson, who grabbed two goals. Johnson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:14 into the third period to make the score 6-1 Elk River. Thomas Wood provided the assist. Johnson's next tally on the power play made the score 7-2 Elk River with 10:38 left in the third period. In addition, Robbinsdale Armstrong received assists from Cole Goergen, who had one.

MacLean Berglove recorded 19 saves for the Elks. Elk River incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Robbinsdale Armstrong's Grant Mathiason stopped 18 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Falcons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
