Centennial survives Elk River comeback, wins 3-2Centennial Sports Arena Thu, Jan 03, 2013 The Centennial Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Elk River Elks on the way to a 3-2 win. Centennial took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Elk River storm back on a Jacob Jaremko goal 7:50 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Jordan Pitlick had a great game for the Cougars, netting two goals. Pitlick's tallies came short handed at 6:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Centennial and 9:18 into the second to make the score 2-1 Centennial. With 27 shots on target during the contest, Centennial exceeded the 2.2 shots it averages per game this year. Centennial also got a goal from Ryner Gorowsky as well. More assists for Centennial came via Hans Gorowsky, Connor Lovick, and Will Juergens, who contributed one a piece. The Elks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 7.1 shots per game they average. Elk River was helped by Reggie Lutz, who registered one goal. Lutz scored on the power play 8:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Wyatt Edge picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Elk River were Blake Hillman, who had one. The Cougars' Patrick Munson stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Centennial finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage. MacLean Berglove made 24 saves for the Elks on 27 shots. Elk River avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays.
