Duluth East wins tough contest against Andover, 4-2

The Duluth East Greyhounds and the Andover Huskies were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Duluth East made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Hogan Davidson secured the win for the Greyhounds with a goal in the third period.

Jack Forbort had two goals to lead Duluth East to victory. Forbort scored at 1:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Andover and again while on the power play 7:48 into the third to make the score 4-2 Duluth East.

The Greyhounds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Duluth East put 17 shots on net during the contest, more than the 8.0 it averages per game.

Duluth East also got points from Meirs Moore, who also registered one goal and one assist and Davidson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Duluth East received assists from Brian Bunten, Alex Trapp, Kyle Chartier, Alex Toscano, and Phil Beaulieu, who each chipped in one.

With 26 shots on target during the contest, Andover exceeded the 6.3 shots it averages per game this year. The Huskies' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Greyhounds' power play unit.

Andover was helped by Zach Sitarz, who tallied one goal. Sitarz scored 4:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Andover. Tanner Tullbane picked up the assist. Christian Mohs also scored for Andover. Other players who recorded assists for Andover were Brady Barthold and Derek Olsen, who contributed one a piece.

Casen Sjerven rejected 24 shots on goal for Duluth East. The Greyhounds ended with 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. Chase Perry recorded 13 saves for the Huskies. Andover incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
