Elk River downs Andover, 4-1Andover CC Sat, Dec 08, 2012 Jacob Jaremko grabbed one point to lead the Elk River Elks to a 4-1 victory over the Andover Huskies. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:33 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. Elk River was often in penalty trouble, totaling four minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. The Elks surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. Elk River excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Elks forced Andover goalie Chase Perry to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Elk River additionally got points from Andrew Zerban, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Elk River also got a goal from Tim Sandford as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elk River were Wyatt Ege, Blake Hillman, and Ben Johnson, who each chipped in one. The 19 shots that the Huskies put on net surpassed Andover's average of 5.3 shots per game this season. The Huskies were led by Nick Maney, who scored the team's only goal. Maney scored 6:23 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Elk River. Brady Barthold assisted on the tally. MacLean Berglove rejected 18 shots on goal for Elk River. The Elks registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Colton Budreau, Chase Springman, and Grant Bunker were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Chase Perry made 30 saves for Andover on 34 shots. The Huskies ended with 34 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. For Andover, Jared McComber and Zach Sitarz were ejected from the contest.
