Centennial outlasts Champlin Park, 3-2Champlin Ice Forum Thu, Dec 06, 2012 The Centennial Cougars gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Champlin Park Rebels. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jordan Pitlick at 2:50 of the third period. Centennial's penalty kill excelled, as the Cougars gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Centennial was led by Pitlick, who registered one goal. The Cougars stifled Champlin Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Centennial forced the Rebels goalie Tyler Nelson to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Cougars' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Centennial finished with 14 penalty minutes. Centennial also got a goal from Ryner Gorowsky as well. In addition, Centennial received assists from Will Schwartz, who had two and Kenny Sinna and Connor Lovick, who contributed one a piece. Champlin Park could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. The Rebels were helped by Danny Eggerichs, who tallied one goal. Eggerichs scored 10:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Champlin Park. Reese Woods assisted on the tally. Luke Dalman also scored for Champlin Park. Other players who recorded assists for Champlin Park were Max Turgeon and Calvin Spencer, who each chipped in one. Patrick Munson rejected 21 shots on goal for the Cougars. Centennial registered two goals on 11 power play opportunities. Nelson recorded 40 saves for Champlin Park.
