Eastview uses early goal to top Lakeville South, 2-0

Ryan McNamara gave the Eastview Lightning the lead in the first period, and the Lakeville South Cougars was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

Eastview took over the lead for good with a goal by McNamara at 3:51 in the first period. Nick Abbott provided the assist.

McNamara had two goals to lead the Lightning to victory.

Zachary Driscoll spearheaded the defensive effort for Eastview, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 34 saves for the shutout. Driscoll certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.98 entering the contest.

The Lightning excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Eastview's defense was surprisingly good. The Lightning allow 2.1 goals per game. Eastview forced Lakeville South goalie Tyler Schumacher to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Eastview were Keith Muehlbauer, who had one.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Eastview power plays. Lakeville South was held below its usual level of production. The Cougars average 3.0 goals per game. Lakeville South's offense rang up 34 shots on the Lightning's net.

Eastview incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Schumacher rejected 36 shots on goal for the Cougars. Lakeville South ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
