Burnsville blows out Lakeville South, 6-2

The Lakeville South Cougars had trouble finding ways to stop the Burnsville Blaze, which beat Cougars, 6-2.

Tyler Sheehy was all over the ice for Burnsville, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Sheehy scored the first of his two goals at 11:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burnsville. Teemu Kivihalme picked up the assist. Sheehy's next tally made the score 5-1 Burnsville with 4:28 left in the second period. Anthony Rikberg assisted on the tally.

Lakeville South's Tyler Schumacher could not handle what the Blaze threw at him, as Burnsville netted its goals off of seven.

The Blaze outdid their season average for goals scored. Burnsville has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Burnsville also had goals scored by Dan Ames, who had two and Dylan Weigel and Will Missling, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Burnsville were Adam Schweitzer and Jack Ahcan, who contributed one a piece and Sam Dockry and Nick DiGregorio, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars barely challenged the opposing netminder, finishing with only two shots on target to force zero saves. Still, the total topped Lakeville South's average of 1.6 per game this year. The Cougars managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Lakeville South ended up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Cougars were led by Weston Baumann, who racked up one goal. Baumann scored 13:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Burnsville. Cameron Jackson provided the assist. Lakeville South also got a goal from Patrick Lauderdale as well. In addition, Lakeville South received assists from Ben Freemark, Justin Doeden, and Nick Swaney, who contributed one a piece.

The Blaze incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lakeville South registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
