McCullen's goals lift Bloomington Kennedy to 4-1 victory over Lakeville SouthLakeville Hasse Arena Tue, Dec 18, 2012 The Bloomington Kennedy Eagles relied on the scoring touch of Michael McCullen, who netted two goals, to beat the Lakeville South Cougars, 4-1. McCullen scored at 4:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Bloomington Kennedy and again while 16:06 into the third to make the score 4-1 Bloomington Kennedy.Bloomington Kennedy was led by goalie David Johnson, who finished with 38 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Johnson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.69. The defensemen of the Eagles were also effective in Lakeville South's zone, and came away with two goals. Jacob OKeefe also scored for Bloomington Kennedy. In addition, Bloomington Kennedy received assists from Conor Jensen, James Hartley, David Hinrichs, Jacob Wells, and Michael Jost, who each chipped in one. The Cougars' offense rang up 39 shots on Bloomington Kennedy's net. Lakeville South was led by Drew Byers, who scored the team's only goal. Byers scored on the power play 14:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeville South. The Cougars had gained a power play chance when Samuel Wickstrom was whistled for cross checking. Patrick Lauderdale picked up the assist. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tyler Schumacher recorded 16 saves for Lakeville South. The Cougars incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
