Lakeville South's Byers deadly on offense in 6-3 win against Rosemount

The Lakeville South Cougars relied on the scoring touch of Drew Byers, who netted two goals, to beat the Rosemount Irish, 6-3.

Byers' tallies came on the power play at 8:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeville South and on the power play 16:07 into the second to make the score 3-2 Lakeville South.

Lakeville South stifled Rosemount's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Lakeville South has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Cougars' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. With 38 shots on target during the contest, Lakeville South exceeded the 4.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Lakeville South additionally got points from Mack Farley, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Cameron Jackson, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Patrick Lauderdale, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeville South were Jake Rahbain, Tony Dahlberg, Weston Baumann, and Patrick Daly, who contributed one a piece and Justin Doeden and Nick Swaney, who each chipped in two.

The Irish forced the Cougars goalie Daniel Swail to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Rosemount was helped by Ted Schultz, who had one goal. Schultz scored 3:53 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Rosemount also got a goal from Zach Bichler as well. More assists for Rosemount came via Tom Linder and Luke Meade, who contributed one a piece.

Lakeville South's Swail stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Torin Anderson made 32 saves for the Irish on 38 shots. Rosemount totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
