Eagan erases deficit to stun Lakeville South, 6-5

The Lakeville South Cougars could not hold down the Eagan Wildcats, and Wildcats erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 6-5 win.

Eagan never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Wildcats fell behind 4-1 after a goal by Lakeville South's Patrick Lauderdale at 5:18 in the second period. Eagan tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Zach Glienke at 3:51 in the third period. The Wildcats got the game winner at 7:48 in the third period on a goal by Glienke.

Eagan managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Wildcats ended up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Eagan's offense rang up 35 shots on the Cougars' net.

The Wildcats were led by Cullen Willox, who grabbed three goals and one assist. Eagan additionally got points from Glienke, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Eagan also got a goal from Jesse Gabrielle as well. In addition, Eagan received assists from Kyle Stebbing, who had two and Tommy Muck, Max Elsenheimer, and Nick Smallidge, who each chipped in one.

Lakeville South stifled Eagan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Lakeville South averages 2.5 goals per game. By firing 37 shots on goal, the Cougars exceeded the 5.3 shots they average per game this year.

Lakeville South also got points from Nick Swaney, who also had one goal and one assist. Mack Farley also scored for Lakeville South. More assists for Lakeville South came via Cameron Jackson and Chris Gonzalez, who contributed one a piece and Ben Freemark and Justin Doeden, who each chipped in two.

Andrew Lindgren made 32 saves for the Wildcats on 37 shots. Eagan registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Tyler Schumacher rejected 29 shots on goal for Lakeville South. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
