Besse leads Benilde St. Margarets over Stillwater, 5-2St. Croix Rec Center Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Grant Besse was all over the ice for the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Benilde St. Margarets' 5-2 win over the Stillwater Ponies. Besse found the back of the net on the power play 5:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 10:03 into the third to make the score 4-2 Benilde St. Margarets.Stillwater's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Ponies let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The Red Knights put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 15.8 they average per game. Benilde St. Margarets struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 18 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Benilde St. Margarets additionally got points from T.J. Moore, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Nate Labosky, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Benilde St. Margarets also got a goal from Evan Fleming as well. Other players who recorded assists for Benilde St. Margarets were Nick Austin, who had one and Spencer Naas, who had three. Stillwater forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 9.0 minutes per game the Ponies had been spending in the box. Stillwater's offense was clicking better than usual and put 21 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.8 shots per game it averages. The Ponies were helped by Aaron Kasinak, who had one goal. Kasinak scored 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stillwater. Nick Anderson assisted on the tally. Stillwater also got points from Anderson, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Stillwater came via Jon Peterson, who had one and Tyler Fitzsimmons, who had two. The Red Knights' Andrew Sprang stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Colton Anderson made 26 saves for Stillwater on 31 shots.
