The Mounds View Mustangs and the East Ridge Raptors skate to 5-5 (OT) tie

Even though Mounds View's AJ Rupert netted two goals and Jacob Tretsven ccontributed two points, the Mustangs was held to a tie by East Ridge, 5-5 (OT).

Mounds View put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raptors to score on any of their three power plays. The Mustangs' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.4 shots per game they average.

Mounds View also got points from Andrew Bjorklund, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tretsven, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Matt Hunt also scored for Mounds View. In addition, Mounds View received assists from Darian Romanko, Ryan Elvidge, and John Sarafolean, who contributed one a piece.

East Ridge managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Raptors wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. East Ridge's offense rang up 32 shots on Mounds View's net.

The Raptors were helped by Ian Penvose, who racked up two goals. Penvose scored the first of his two goals at 54 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Ridge. Derek Hammer provided the assist. Penvose's next tally made the score 5-5 with 3:01 left in the third period. Robert Nickoloff assisted on the tally. East Ridge additionally got points from Nickoloff, who also registered one goal and one assist, Hammer, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Ryan McDonough, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for East Ridge came via Jack Dwyer, who had one and Jack Greeley, who had three.

The Mustangs' Alek Van Valkenburg stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Mounds View incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nicholas Maki recorded 23 saves for East Ridge.
