Forest Lake beats Stillwater 4-3 after comeback scare

The Stillwater Ponies tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Forest Lake Rangers held on for a 4-3 victory.

Forest Lake made the score 4-2 on a goal by Kyle Parker at 10:23 in the third period, and Stillwater got as close as 4-3 when Zach Fedie scored 12:52 into the third period.

Parker was all over the ice for the Rangers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

Forest Lake's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Stillwater power plays.

Forest Lake also got points from Trevor Thompson, who also had one goal and one assist. Landon Pikala also scored for Forest Lake. Other players who recorded assists for Forest Lake were Brett Gravelle and Jack Schmidt, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers were unable to stop the Ponies from sending pucks towards the net, and Stillwater eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Stillwater also got a goal from Stotts Wyatt as well. More assists for Stillwater came via Cates Devin, Payton Hosch, and Tyler Fitzsimmo, who each chipped in one.

Jesse Garcia made 33 saves for Forest Lake on 36 shots. The Rangers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Ponies' Colton Anderson stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Stillwater incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
