Early goals doom Breckenridge/Wahpeton, falls to Fergus Falls, 7-1

The Fergus Falls Otters opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 7-1 over the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades.

Sam Rausch had a great game for Fergus Falls, netting two goals. Rausch scored at 4:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fergus Falls and again while 6:30 into the first to make the score 3-0 Fergus Falls.

The Otters' offense rang up 54 shots on Breckenridge/Wahpeton's net. Fergus Falls bested its season scoring average. The Otters average 3.7 goals per game.

Fergus Falls also got points from Joe Nathe, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Kyler Peterson, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin Hanson also scored for Fergus Falls. In addition, Fergus Falls received assists from Adam Evenson, who had two and Casey Ward, Aidan Colling, and Jesse Ketonen, who each chipped in one.

The Blades found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against Fergus Falls' defense.

Ian Bjorgum rejected 11 shots on goal for the Otters. Fergus Falls finished the contest with no penalties and went 1-for-2 with the man advantage. Michael Withuski recorded 47 saves for Breckenridge/Wahpeton. The Blades incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
