Dodge County squeaks by La Crescent, 6-4

The game between the Dodge County Wildcats and the La Crescent Lancers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Dodge County emerged with a 6-4 win.

The Wildcats gained the winning advantage on a goal by Spencer Senn 16:29 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Senn had a great game for Dodge County, netting two goals.

The Wildcats' penalty kill excelled, as Dodge County gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Wildcats were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Dodge County surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wildcats stifled La Crescent's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dodge County forced the Lancers goalie Levi Thesing to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Wildcats surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Dodge County has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Dodge County also got points from Tanner Dufault, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Samuel Robinson, who also finished with two goals and one assist. In addition, Dodge County received assists from Bryan Knesel, who had two.

La Crescent found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against the Wildcats' defense.

The Lancers were led by Justin Paul, who registered two goals and one assist. Paul scored the first of his two goals at 10:17 into the second period to make the score 3-2 La Crescent. Jevin Dorscher assisted on the tally. Paul's next tally made the score 5-4 Dodge County with 13:01 left in the third period. Noah Salow picked up the assist. La Crescent additionally got points from Dorscher, who also racked up one goal and one assist. La Crescent also got a goal from Zack Hanno as well. More assists for La Crescent came via Nick Moser and Austin DeBoer, who each chipped in one.

Dodge County's Mitch Sobotta stopped eight shots out of the 12 that he faced. The Wildcats registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Levi Thesing made 30 saves for La Crescent on 36 shots. The Lancers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
