Minneapolis uses fast start to beat Moose Lake Area, 12-0Riverside Sat, Jan 12, 2013 The Moose Lake Area Rebels fell behind early, and the Minneapolis Novas kept piling on the points on the way to a 12-0 victory. Joe Guimont was all over the ice for Minneapolis, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Guimont scored the first of his two goals at 4:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Minneapolis. Robert Adams provided the assist. Guimont's next tally made the score 4-0 Minneapolis with 7:18 left in the first period. Henry Christman assisted on the tally. The Novas stifled Moose Lake Area's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Minneapolis was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Novas gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. Minneapolis forced the Rebels goalie Gage Mohelsky to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. The Novas bested their season scoring average. This season, Minneapolis averages 5.2 goals per contest. Minneapolis also got points from Ross Nesbit, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Christman, who also had four goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Josh Huisken, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Stellan Christensen, who also had one goal and one assist, and Kyle Helmstetter, who also registered one goal and one assist. Minneapolis also got a goal from Jimmy Roth as well. In addition, Minneapolis received assists from Peter Hacker, who had three, Simon Bergford, Ian Whitehead, Bobby Shogren, TJ Moseley, and Josh Martin, who each chipped in one, and Evan Winter and Tony Pnewski, who contributed two a piece. Moose Lake Area found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere three shots against the Novas' defense. The Rebels' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Moose Lake Area finished with 24 penalty minutes. Moseley recorded three saves for Minneapolis. The Novas incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Minneapolis ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adams was ejected from the game. The Rebels' Mohelsky stopped 40 shots out of the 52 that he faced. Moose Lake Area registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For the Rebels, Cole Lower was ejected from the game.
