Benilde St. Margarets beats Eden Prairie 3-2 after comeback scareEden Prairie Community Center Sat, Feb 09, 2013 The Eden Prairie Eagles tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. A goal by T.J. Moore put Benilde St. Margarets up 3-0 in the second period, but Eden Prairie pulled to within one on Mason Bergh's tally 12:46 into the third period. Spencer Naas had one goal and two assists to lead the Red Knights. Naas scored 11:44 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Benilde St. Margarets. Grant Besse provided the assist. Besse was the focal point of Benilde St. Margarets' attack, as he took and 13 out of his team's 31 shots. The Red Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Eagles to score on any of their four power plays. Benilde St. Margarets could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Red Knights put an average of 5.8 pucks into the net per game. Benilde St. Margarets also got a goal from Chris Hickok as well. In addition, Benilde St. Margarets received assists from Patrick Graham and Nate Labosky, who contributed one a piece. Eden Prairie relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Steven Spinner, Luc Snuggerud and John Sullivan took 22 of the team's 38 shots. Andrew Knudsen also scored for Eden Prairie. Benilde St. Margarets' Andrew Sprang stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Red Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Gerdes made 28 saves for the Eagles on 31 shots. Eden Prairie ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major.
