Besse lifts Benilde St. Margarets over Rochester Lourdes, 6-1

Grant Besse had two goals to lead the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights to a 6-1 victory over the Rochester Lourdes Eagles.

Besse's tallies came short handed at 2:26 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Benilde St. Margarets and on the power play 4:32 into the second to make the score 2-0 Benilde St. Margarets.

Rochester Lourdes' power play was ineffective against Benilde St. Margarets' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Red Knights excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The 31 shots that Benilde St. Margarets put on net surpassed the Red Knights' average of 14.8 shots per game this season. Benilde St. Margarets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Red Knights finished with 14 penalty minutes.

Benilde St. Margarets also got points from Spencer Naas, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Benilde St. Margarets also got a goal from Jack Lawton as well. In addition, Benilde St. Margarets received assists from T.J. Moore, who had two and Alec Baer, Mark Kaske, and Nate Meyer, who contributed one a piece.

The Eagles could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Rochester Lourdes averages 4.1 goals per game.

The Eagles were led by Ben Weir, who scored the team's only goal. Weir scored 4:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Benilde St. Margarets. Jason Samuelson picked up the assist.

Benilde St. Margarets' Paul Lundberg stopped 15 shots out of the 16 that he faced. The Red Knights registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Jack Berkel rejected 25 shots on goal for Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
