Huge game by Besse boosts Benilde St. Margarets over Minnetonka, 5-1

The Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights' Grant Besse had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Minnetonka Skippers.

Besse's tallies came at 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Benilde St. Margarets and on the power play 7:45 into the first to make the score 2-0 Benilde St. Margarets.

Benilde St. Margarets managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Red Knights ended up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. Benilde St. Margarets put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.4 it averages per game.

Benilde St. Margarets also had goals scored by Chase Jungels, who had one and Spencer Naas, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Benilde St. Margarets were Nate Labosky, who had four and Johnny Austin, Ben Newhouse, and Evan Fleming, who contributed one a piece.

Minnetonka could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Skippers put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. With 25 shots on target during the contest, Minnetonka exceeded the 4.2 shots it averages per game this year. The Skippers' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Minnetonka gives up 2.2 goals per game.

The Skippers were led by Thomas Brandabur, who took one shot.

Andrew Sprang rejected 24 shots on goal for the Red Knights. Benilde St. Margarets registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Paul Ciaccio recorded 31 saves for Minnetonka. The Skippers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
