Moore leads Benilde St. Margarets over Wayzata, 5-2

Behind a great game by T.J. Moore, who had one goal and four assists, the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights defeated the Wayzata Trojans, 5-2.

Moore scored 36 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Benilde St. Margarets. Grant Besse provided the assist. Moore dished an assist on Besse's goal that made the score 2-0 Benilde St. Margarets at 4:35 into the second period. He then added assists on Spencer Naas' goal at 16:31 into the second, on Besse's goal at 37 seconds into the third, and on Nate Labosky's goal at 10:24 into the third.

Benilde St. Margarets managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Red Knights finished below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. Benilde St. Margarets relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Naas, Besse and Patrick Graham took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

Benilde St. Margarets also got points from Naas, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Besse, who also tallied two goals and two assists, and Labosky, who also finished with one goal and three assists.

The 18 shots that Wayzata put on net surpassed the Trojans' average of 9.5 shots per game this season. Wayzata's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. The Trojans are averaging 1.7 goal against for the season.

Wayzata was helped by Chase Haller, who finished with one goal. Haller scored 4:33 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Benilde St. Margarets. Jalen Wahl picked up the assist. Wayzata also got a goal from Chad Olson as well. In addition, Wayzata received assists from Chandler Linstrand, who had one and Maxwell Zimmer, who had two.

Andrew Sprang rejected 16 shots on goal for the Red Knights. Benilde St. Margarets registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Jens Vaughn Arens recorded 28 saves for the Trojans. Wayzata incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
