Graves nets hat trick, leads Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson to 9-4 win over Pine City/Rush City

The Pine City/Rush City Dragons could not stop the Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson Mustangs' Derek Graves, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-4 win.

Graves' first goal came 14:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:10 into the third and at 13:58 into the third.

Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Mustangs wound up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Pine City/Rush City was unable to stop Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson outdid its season average for goals scored. The Mustangs average 5.7 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson additionally got points from Dylan Libra, who also had two goals and two assists. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson also got a goal from Connor Cannon as well. More assists for Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson came via Thomas Pasillas, Tyler Larson, and Justin Kneiszler, who each chipped in one and Christian Leeb and Greg Chmiel, who contributed two a piece.

The Dragons were helped by Jake Kleinsasser, who grabbed two goals. Kleinsasser scored the first of his two goals at 5:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pine City/Rush City. Adam Swanson picked up the assist. Kleinsasser's next tally made the score 2-1 Pine City/Rush City with 9:12 left in the first period. Pine City/Rush City had gotten the advantage when Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson's Larson was sent off for interference. TJ Gross provided the assist. Pine City/Rush City also got points from Gross, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Casey Lucht also scored for Pine City/Rush City.

The Mustangs' Tanner Baxley stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Tony Pitzen rejected 29 shots on goal for the Dragons. Pine City/Rush City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
