Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson falls apart in second, loses to Minneapolis, 10-0Mora Civic Center Fri, Jan 18, 2013 The Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson Mustangs allowed the Minneapolis Novas to net eight goals during the second period and fell, 10-0. Henry Christman was all over the ice for Minneapolis, as he tallied four goals and three assists in the win. Christman's first goal came 2:57 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:46 into the second, at 5:27 into the second, and at 10:45 into the second. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson's power play was ineffective against the Novas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Minneapolis forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Novas surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Minneapolis stifled the Mustangs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Novas' defensive effort looked to be improved. Minneapolis gives up 2.3 goals on average per game. The Novas found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Minneapolis averages 6.0 goals per contest. Minneapolis additionally got points from Peter Hacker, who also finished with two goals and two assists, Joe Guimont, who also registered two goals and four assists, and Tony Pnewski, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Josh Martin also scored for Minneapolis. In addition, Minneapolis received assists from Grant Miller, who had one. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Mustangs finished below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson's offense operated below it season average. The Mustangs put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson's offense was handcuffed by the Novas' defensive play, and the Mustangs managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 11 power play opportunities. TJ Moseley made 13 saves for Minneapolis on 13 shots. The Novas registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Tanner Baxley rejected 17 shots on goal for the Mustangs.
