Minneapolis rips Legacy Christian Academy, 9-1

The Minneapolis Novas were firing on all cylinders against the Legacy Christian Academy Lions, and when the final buzzer sounded Novas emerged with a 9-1 win.

Stellan Christensen was all over the ice for Minneapolis, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Christensen scored the first of his two goals at 8:20 into the third period to make the score 8-1 Minneapolis. Jimmy Roth picked up the assist. Christensen's next tally made the score 9-1 Minneapolis with 5:17 left in the third period. The Novas had gotten the advantage when Legacy Christian Academy's Tyler Arenz was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Alex Reyes assisted on the tally.

Minneapolis' penalty kill excelled, as the Novas gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Minneapolis stifled the Lions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Legacy Christian Academy was unable to stop the Novas from sending pucks towards the net, and Minneapolis eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Novas got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Minneapolis could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Minneapolis also got points from Peter Hacker, who also registered one goal and one assist, Henry Christman, who also had two goals and one assist, and Tony Pnewski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Minneapolis included Grant Miller, who had one and Josh Huisken, who had two. In addition, Minneapolis received assists from Joe Guimont and Ian Whitehead, who each chipped in one and Ross Nesbit and Cris Grassel, who contributed two a piece.

The Lions' offense operated below they season average. Legacy Christian Academy puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Lions' offense were handcuffed by the Novas' defensive play, and Legacy Christian Academy managed only 11 shots on goal during the game. The Lions' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Legacy Christian Academy gives up 2.3 goals per game.

The Lions were led by Zachary Morse, who scored the team's only goal. Morse scored 2:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Minneapolis.

TJ Moseley made 10 saves for Minneapolis on 11 shots. The Novas registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Tanner Balk rejected 32 shots on goal for Legacy Christian Academy. The Lions incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
