Minneapolis rips WSFLG, 5-1Grantsburg Arena Sat, Jan 05, 2013 The Minneapolis Novas had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the WSFLG Blizzard. WSFLG was stymied by Minneapolis netminder Erik Toftner, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Toftner will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.81. The Novas were sparked by Stellan Christensen, who registered one goal and one assist. Christensen scored 13:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Minneapolis. Jimmy Roth assisted on the tally. Minneapolis stifled the Blizzard's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Novas kept WSFLG's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Roufs made 38 saves on 43 shots. Minneapolis also got points from Josh Huisken, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ross Nesbit also scored for Minneapolis. More assists for Minneapolis came via Evan Winter, who had two, Tony Pnewski, who had three, and Peter Hacker and Cris Grassel, who contributed one a piece. The Blizzard's offense operated below they season average. WSFLG puts an average of 7.5 pucks into the net per game. The Blizzard were led by Dakota Linke, who scored the team's only goal.
