Legacy Christian Academy pulls away in second, rolls over North Branch, 7-0

The North Branch Vikings was within striking distance after one period, but the Legacy Christian Academy Lions put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-0 victory.

Legacy Christian Academy was led by Gordy Vitek, who had one goal. Vitek scored 3:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Legacy Christian Academy. Brandon Leier provided the assist.

The Lions put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North Branch to score on any of its three power plays. Legacy Christian Academy featured an improved defense during the game. The Lions average 2.2 goals allowed per game. Legacy Christian Academy's offense rang up 45 shots on the Vikings' net.

Legacy Christian Academy also got points from Brock Thompson, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Leier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ike Larson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tyler Arenz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Joe Olufson also scored for Legacy Christian Academy. Other players who recorded assists for Legacy Christian Academy were Zach Cole, who had one and Lucas Stauffeneker, who had two.

North Branch managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vikings ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. North Branch could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Vikings average 2.5 goals per game. North Branch's offense was handcuffed by the Lions' defensive play, and the Vikings managed only six shots on goal during the game.

Brandon Cram made six saves for Legacy Christian Academy on six shots. The Lions incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Donovan Stefan rejected 38 shots on goal for North Branch.
