Balk stymies Achiever NE Academy, Legacy Christian Academy wins 2-1Schwan SR-1 Sat, Dec 08, 2012 Tanner Balk had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Legacy Christian Academy Lions beat the Achiever NE Academy Aces 2-1. Legacy Christian Academy was led by Brandon Leier, who tallied one goal. Leier scored on the power play 8:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Legacy Christian Academy. The Lions earned a power play opportunity when Cameron Hamlet was put in the box for slashing. Lucas Stauffeneker assisted on the tally. Legacy Christian Academy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Achiever NE Academy to score on any of its five power plays. Tyler Arenz also scored for Legacy Christian Academy. In addition, Legacy Christian Academy received assists from Sam Asfahl, Brock Thompson, and Ike Larson, who contributed one a piece. The Aces did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Achiever NE Academy puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Aces' offense rang up 32 shots on the Lions' net. Achiever NE Academy could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The Aces were led by Tyler Thompson, who scored the team's only goal. Thompson scored 4:04 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Achiever NE Academy. Legacy Christian Academy incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jaylen Mitchel made 22 saves for Achiever NE Academy on 24 shots.
