Robbinsdale Armstrong pulls away in second, rolls over Legacy Christian Academy, 9-2

The Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons used a four-goal second period to put away the Legacy Christian Academy Lions, 9-2.

Ben Hansen had two goals and four assists to lead Robbinsdale Armstrong. Hansen scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Robbinsdale Armstrong. The Falcons found themselves down a man on Cory Gilbert's boarding. Brady Johnson picked up the assist. Hansen's next tally short handed made the score 8-2 Robbinsdale Armstrong with 8:44 left in the third period. Robbinsdale Armstrong had taken the advantage when Legacy Christian Academy's Joe Olufson got sent off for tripping. Kristian Evans provided the assist.

The Lions were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as the Falcons were able to score four times while on the power play.

Robbinsdale Armstrong's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Legacy Christian Academy power plays. Legacy Christian Academy was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and Robbinsdale Armstrong eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Robbinsdale Armstrong additionally got points from Evans, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Johnson, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Gilbert, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Robbinsdale Armstrong included Thomas Wood, who had two and Shea Borer and Christopher Haugen, who each put in one. In addition, Robbinsdale Armstrong received assists from Blake Babineau, who had one.

The Lions could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Legacy Christian Academy was led by Brock Thompson, who grabbed two goals. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 7:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Robbinsdale Armstrong. Thompson's next tally made the score 5-2 Robbinsdale Armstrong with 18:39 left in the third period.

The Falcons' Brendan Murphy stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Robbinsdale Armstrong ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Tanner Balk made 22 saves for the Lions on 31 shots.
