Worthington falls to Windom Area in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Windom Area Eagles' Zach Bartosh scored 2:41 into overtime to beat the Worthington Trojans, 6-5 (OT).

Windom Area came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Eagles fell behind 5-2 after a goal by Worthington's Jacob Molden at 14:40 in the second period. Windom Area knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Devin Neilsen at 16:19 in the third period.

Travis Janssen was all over the ice for the Eagles, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Janssen scored the first of his two goals at 3:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Windom Area. Janssen's next tally made the score 5-4 Worthington with 15:58 left in the third period. Bartosh picked up the assist.

Windom Area stifled the Trojans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Eagles kept Worthington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Rylan Scholtes made 41 saves on 47 shots.

Windom Area also got points from Neilsen, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Bartosh, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Windom Area also got a goal from Andrew Hirsch as well. More assists for Windom Area came via Tyler Presthus and Dylan Pigman, who each chipped in one.

The Trojans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Windom Area to score on any of its three power plays. Worthington's offense rang up 34 shots on the Eagles' net.

The Trojans were helped by Jacob Oberloh, who tallied two goals and one assist. Oberloh scored the first of his two goals at 8:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Worthington. Levi Leach provided the assist. Oberloh's next tally made the score 3-2 Worthington with 8:51 left in the second period. Leach assisted on the tally. Worthington additionally got points from Leach, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Zach Heidebrink also scored for Worthington. Other players who recorded assists for Worthington were Isaac Kruse, Andrew Johnson, and Nathan Patten, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler McGowan made 29 saves for Windom Area on 34 shots. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Worthington totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
