Beyer leads Morris/Benson Area over Worthington, 10-4Worthington High School Sat, Jan 19, 2013 Behind a great game by Mac Beyer, who had two goals and four assists, the Morris/Benson Area Storm defeated the Worthington Trojans, 10-4. Beyer's tallies came at 5:16 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Morris/Benson Area and 10:38 into the second to make the score 6-4 Morris/Benson Area.Morris/Benson Area excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Storm kept Worthington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Scholtes made 26 saves on 36 shots. Morris/Benson Area surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Storm average 6.4 goals per contest. Morris/Benson Area also got points from Brody Gimberlin, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Tanner Picht, who also had two goals and three assists, and Taner Gimberlin, who also registered one goal and four assists. Morris/Benson Area also had goals scored by Riley Blake, who had two and Tanner Mikkelson and Lincoln Pahl, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Morris/Benson Area were Corey Storck, who had three and Darion Helberg and Jordan Staples, who contributed two a piece. The Trojans stifled Morris/Benson Area's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Worthington was led by Kody Honius, who had one goal and one assist. Honius scored 11:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Worthington. Nick Newman also scored for Worthington. In addition, Worthington received assists from Isaac Kruse, who had one and Levi Leach, who had two. Kyle Kennedy rejected 14 shots on goal for the Storm. Morris/Benson Area incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Trojans ended with 32 minutes in penalty time with one minor and two majors.
