Mankato East/Loyola squeaks by Waseca, 4-3

The game between the Mankato East/Loyola Cougars and the Waseca Bluejays was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Mankato East/Loyola emerged with a 4-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Shane Sellner's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

With two goals and five assists between them, Carter Johnson and Sellner teamed up to power the Cougars' offense. Johnson had one goal and three assists and Sellner also notched one goal and two assists.

Waseca was unable to stop Mankato East/Loyola from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Mankato East/Loyola got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Mankato East/Loyola additionally got points from Sellner, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Grayson Gavin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mankato East/Loyola also got a goal from Brandon Adams as well. In addition, Mankato East/Loyola received assists from Alec Schultz, who had one.

The Bluejays stifled the Cougars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Waseca's offense rang up 35 shots on Mankato East/Loyola's net.

The Bluejays were helped by Wyatt Krampitz, who tallied two goals. Krampitz scored the first of his two goals at 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Michael Priebe assisted on the tally. Krampitz's next tally made the score 3-3 with 12:35 left in the third period. Waseca earned a power play opportunity when Neil Nienaber was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Cody Ulfers provided the assist. Waseca also got points from Ulfers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Waseca were JP Eykyn, who had one.

Aaron Kroeber made 32 saves for the Cougars on 35 shots. Mankato East/Loyola totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Austin Stroda rejected 38 shots on goal for the Bluejays. Waseca incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
