Wadena-Deer Creek holds on for 9-7 win against Bagley/Foston

The Bagley/Foston Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines held on for a 9-7 victory.

A goal by Dylan Phillips put Wadena-Deer Creek up 9-6 in the third period, but Bagley/Foston pulled to within two on Aaron Leintz's tally 15:23 into the third period.

Mitchell Swanson had five goals and one assist to lead the Wolverines. Swanson's first goal came 2:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:53 into the first, at 16:17 into the second, at 10 seconds into the third, and at 3:32 into the third.

Wadena-Deer Creek's offense rang up 49 shots on the Flyers' net. The Wolverines found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Wadena-Deer Creek averages 5.0 goals per contest. The Wolverines got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed five goals during the game. Wadena-Deer Creek found itself short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Wadena-Deer Creek additionally got points from Mike Behl, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Bridger Pettit, who also registered two goals and three assists, and Phillips, who also had one goal and one assist.
