Minnehaha Academy rips St. Paul Como Park, 4-1PSI Internal Staff Sat, Jan 26, 2013 The Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the St. Paul Como Park Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Red Hawks emerged with a 4-1 win. Minnehaha Academy was led by Luke Erickson, who grabbed one goal. Erickson scored 6:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Minnehaha Academy. Max Hobrough picked up the assist. The Red Hawks stifled St. Paul Como Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Minnehaha Academy kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ernie Mantel made 33 saves on 37 shots. Minnehaha Academy also got points from Hobrough, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Josh Radtke also scored for Minnehaha Academy. In addition, Minnehaha Academy received assists from Ryan Evenson, Ryan Leo, and Sam Lundquist, who contributed two a piece. St. Paul Como Park's offense operated below it season average. The Cougars average 4.4 goals per game. St. Paul Como Park was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes. The Cougars were led by Peter Gaertner, who scored the team's only goal. Gaertner scored 13:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Minnehaha Academy. The Red Hawks' Alex Katz stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Minnehaha Academy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Paul Como Park registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
