Skaja leads St. Cloud Tech over Sauk Rapids-Rice, 7-2

Behind a great game by Tanner Skaja, who had two goals and three assists, the St. Cloud Tech Tigers defeated the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm, 7-2.

Skaja's tallies came at 8:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Tech and on the power play 8:28 into the second to make the score 4-1 St. Cloud Tech.

St. Cloud Tech kept Sauk Rapids-Rice's goalie busy throughout the game, and William Mortenson made 25 saves on 32 shots.

St. Cloud Tech also got points from Riley Bates, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Joe Setrum also scored for St. Cloud Tech. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Tech were Matt Brettingen, who had three and Jake Samuelson and Connor Wendt, who each chipped in one.

The Storm were led by Travis Kothenbeutel, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kothenbeutel scored 14:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sauk Rapids-Rice also got a goal from Ross Chapa as well. More assists for Sauk Rapids-Rice came via Tyler Long, who had one.

Austin Althaus recorded 28 saves for the Tigers. St. Cloud Tech incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sauk Rapids-Rice totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Storm, Joel Haller was ejected from the game.
