Fritz's big game bests Princeton in 5-1 St. Cloud Cathedral win

The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders' Mitchell Fritz had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Princeton Tigers.

Fritz scored at 11:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Cathedral and again while 13:17 into the first to make the score 2-0 St. Cloud Cathedral.

St. Cloud Cathedral put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Princeton to score on any of its four power plays. The Crusaders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Cloud Cathedral additionally got points from Austin Poganski, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Will Hammer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. David Spethmann also scored for St. Cloud Cathedral. In addition, St. Cloud Cathedral received assists from Cole Wensman, Trevor Cornelius, Peter Spethmann, Austin Swingle, and Tommy Hall, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers' offense operated below they season average. Princeton puts an average of 5.9 pucks into the net per game. The Tigers' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Princeton averages 2.3 goals allowed per game.

The Tigers were led by Dan Muench, who scored the team's only goal. Muench scored 1:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 St. Cloud Cathedral. Cam Paulson picked up the assist.

St. Cloud Cathedral's Zach Fritz stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Crusaders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Max Mattson made 16 saves for Princeton on 21 shots. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
