South St.Paul downs Rochester John Marshall in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Nick Jerhoff gave the South St.Paul Packers a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Rochester John Marshall Rockets when he scored 2:50 into the extra period.

South St.Paul nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Packers made it 2-0 on a power play goal by Billy Brandecker at 3:50 in the second period. Rochester John Marshall pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Jake Dravis at 18 seconds in the third period.

The Rockets' power play was ineffective against South St.Paul's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Packers were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. South St.Paul surpassed its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Packers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rochester John Marshall to score on any of its eight power plays. South St.Paul's offense rang up 31 shots on the Rockets' net.

South St.Paul also got points from Brandecker, who also had one goal and one assist and Mitch Fitzgerald, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for South St.Paul were Jack Pietruzewski, who had one and Dan Pietruzewski, who had two.

Rochester John Marshall was led by Nick Paulson, who registered one goal and one assist. Paulson scored 12:35 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Alec McGinn picked up the assist. More assists for Rochester John Marshall came via Jared Bromberg and Sam Broman, who each chipped in one.

Grant Amelse rejected 18 shots on goal for the Packers. South St.Paul registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Rockets' Jacob Garvey stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Rochester John Marshall ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
