Sauk Rapids-Rice rolls over Willmar, 4-0Sauk Rapids East Tue, Jan 22, 2013 The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm were firing on all cylinders against the Willmar Cardinals, and when the final buzzer sounded Storm emerged with a 4-0 win. Mathew Meyer had two goals to lead Sauk Rapids-Rice to victory. Meyer found the back of the net 7:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sauk Rapids-Rice and again while 11:46 into the second to make the score 3-0 Sauk Rapids-Rice. The Storm excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Sauk Rapids-Rice's offense rang up 38 shots on Willmar's net. Sauk Rapids-Rice also got a goal from Brandon Duray as well. More assists for Sauk Rapids-Rice came via Wyatt Orth, who had one and Travis Kothenbeutel and Luke Althaus, who each chipped in two. The Cardinals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Willmar puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Storm's William Mortenson stopped 22 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Sauk Rapids-Rice totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Joe Benson rejected 34 shots on goal for the Cardinals. Willmar incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
