St. Cloud Tech erases deficit to stun Sartell-St.Stephen, 3-2

The St. Cloud Tech Tigers climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Sartell-St.Stephen Sabres, 3-2.

St. Cloud Tech never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Tigers fell behind 2-0 after a short handed goal by Sartell-St.Stephen's Kyle Erickson at 2:50 in the second period. St. Cloud Tech tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tanner Skaja at 9:51 in the second period. The Tigers got the game winner at 41 seconds in the third period on a goal by Skaja.

Matt Brettingen had one goal and two assists to lead St. Cloud Tech. Brettingen scored on the power play 8:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Sartell-St.Stephen. A hooking penalty on Aaron Randall had put the Tigers on the power play.

St. Cloud Tech excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

St. Cloud Tech additionally got points from Skaja, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Cloud Tech also got a goal from Riley Bates as well.

The Sabres forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game Sartell-St.Stephen had been spending in the box.

Other players who recorded assists for Sartell-St.Stephen were Spencer Zwiener, who had one.

Austin Althaus recorded 23 saves for the Tigers. St. Cloud Tech incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Elliott Brookins rejected 26 shots on goal for the Sabres.
