Waseca blows out St. Paul Highland Park, 5-1

The St. Paul Highland Park Scots had trouble finding ways to stop the Waseca Bluejays, which beat Scots, 5-1.

Waseca was led by Michael Kunz, who had one goal and one assist. Kunz scored 1:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Waseca. Wyatt Krampitz provided the assist.

The Bluejays put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Paul Highland Park to score on any of its five power plays. The Scots were unable to stop Waseca from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bluejays eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Waseca outdid its season average for goals scored. The Bluejays average 2.4 goals per game.

Waseca also got points from Michael Priebe, who also registered one goal and one assist and Krampitz, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jesse Ungs also scored for Waseca. More assists for Waseca came via JP Eykyn, Barry McRaith, CJ Nordquis, and Josh Metzdorff, who contributed one a piece.

Zac Weichert rejected 21 shots on goal for Waseca. The Bluejays incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Paul Highland Park's Howie Sands stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Scots incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
