St. Paul Johnson takes care of St. Paul Highland Park early, wins 9-0

The St. Paul Johnson Governors jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the St. Paul Highland Park Scots, 9-0.

St. Paul Johnson was led by Benny Lyons, who racked up one goal. Lyons scored 1:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Paul Johnson. Jonah Kremer assisted on the tally.

The Governors forced St. Paul Highland Park goalie Howie Sands to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. St. Paul Johnson surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Governors average 2.8 goals per contest.

St. Paul Johnson additionally got points from Tyler Willier, who also had one goal and one assist, Taylor Bennett, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Justin Howell, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jesse Solheid, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Kremer, who also had one goal and one assist. Matt Ranum also scored for St. Paul Johnson. Other players who recorded assists for St. Paul Johnson were Thomas Murphy and Matthew Blees, who contributed one a piece.

St. Paul Johnson's defense shut down the Scots' forwards for much of the game, and St. Paul Highland Park got off only eight shots during the contest.
