Zavoral leads St. Paul Highland Park over Pine City/Rush City, 8-5

Behind a great game by Dylan Zavoral, who had four goals and one assist, the St. Paul Highland Park Scots defeated the Pine City/Rush City Dragons, 8-5.

Zavoral got on the scoresheet 5:23 into the third period. He then added goals at 6:04 into the third, at 9:53 into the third, and at 11:07 into the third.

Pine City/Rush City was unable to stop St. Paul Highland Park from sending pucks towards the net, and the Scots eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. St. Paul Highland Park surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Scots average 2.0 goals per contest.

St. Paul Highland Park also got points from Connel McGough, who also tallied one goal and seven assists to lead the team in points. Charlie Sutmar also scored for St. Paul Highland Park. In addition, St. Paul Highland Park received assists from Kyle Hallock, who had one and Grant Vernon, who had four.

The Dragons forced St. Paul Highland Park goalie Howie Sands to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. Pine City/Rush City's goal total was higher than its season average. The Dragons have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pine City/Rush City was led by Casey Lucht, who finished with one goal and two assists. Lucht scored on the power play 6:21 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pine City/Rush City. A head contact penalty on Jackson Buelow had put the Dragons on the power play. TJ Gross assisted on the tally. Pine City/Rush City additionally got points from Gross, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Jake Kleinsasser, who also had one goal and one assist. Pine City/Rush City also got a goal from Adam Swanson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pine City/Rush City were Coltin Malchow, who had one.

The Scots' Sands stopped 52 shots out of the 57 that he faced. St. Paul Highland Park totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Danny Pitzen rejected 23 shots on goal for Pine City/Rush City. The Dragons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
