St. Francis survives Duluth Denfeld comeback, wins 6-5

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters tried to dig themselves out of a five-goal hole, but the St. Francis Saints held on for a 6-5 victory.

St. Francis took a 6-1 lead during the third period, only to have Duluth Denfeld storm back on a Steven Maciver goal 16:56 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Saints got the win on the strength of a great game by Cameron Kaehler, who had two goals and one assist. Kaehler scored the first of his two goals at 2:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Francis. Kyle Wagner provided the assist. Kaehler's next tally made the score St. Francis with 18:59 left in the third period. Wagner picked up the assist.

St. Francis was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and three majors for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Saints had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. St. Francis' offense rang up 35 shots on the Hunters' net.

St. Francis additionally got points from Brett Aldrich, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Zach Foesch, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Jimmy Mayer also scored for St. Francis. In addition, St. Francis received assists from Tate Blankenship, Ben Falk, Carter Hilgers, Jordan Olson, and Justin Nielsen, who contributed one a piece.

Duluth Denfeld put 47 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.3 it averages per game.

Duluth Denfeld also got points from Levi Talarico, who also had one goal and one assist. Duluth Denfeld also got a goal from Travis Samuelson as well. More assists for Duluth Denfeld came via Alex Thomspon, who had four and Wyatt Wutz and Cody Budisalovich, who each chipped in one.

Darion Hanson made 42 saves for the Saints on 47 shots. St. Francis registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Wes Cook rejected 29 shots on goal for the Hunters. Duluth Denfeld incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
