Rochester Mayo wins tough contest against Rochester John Marshall, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Rochester Mayo Spartans escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Rochester John Marshall Rockets.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt Rogers at 7:40 of the second period.

Rochester Mayo was paced by Rogers, who had one goal.

Rochester John Marshall was unable to stop the Spartans from sending pucks towards the net, and Rochester Mayo eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Tommy Fjelsted also scored for Rochester Mayo. More assists for Rochester Mayo came via Nolan Edwards, who had one and Will Holton, who had two.

The Rockets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Rochester John Marshall was helped by Sam Broman, who finished with one goal. Broman scored 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rochester John Marshall. Jake Dravis provided the assist. Rochester John Marshall also got a goal from Hunter Heightland as well. In addition, Rochester John Marshall received assists from Gavin Sandwick and Mitch King, who contributed one a piece.

Case Hansen rejected 21 shots on goal for the Spartans. Rochester Mayo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Garvey made 28 saves for the Rockets on 31 shots. Rochester John Marshall registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
