Filler nets hat trick, leads Mankato West to 7-3 win over Rochester Mayo

The Rochester Mayo Spartans could not stop the Mankato West Scarlets' Cole Filler, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-3 win.

Filler notched his first tally 5:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:27 into the first and at one second1 seconds into the third.

Mankato West kept Rochester Mayo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Case Hansen made 32 saves on 39 shots.

Mankato West also got a goal from Nick Campbell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mankato West were Galt Goettl, Tyler Jutting, Scott McKissick, Max Mettler, and Nate Krueger, who contributed one a piece and Derek Frentz and Dylan Leivermann, who each chipped in two.

The Spartans did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 10 saves. Rochester Mayo's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Spartans average 2.2 goals allowed per game.

Jordan Korte also scored for Rochester Mayo. More assists for Rochester Mayo came via Ryan Martin, Adam Alcott, Ethan Moore, and Jake Billings, who contributed one a piece.

Conor Wollenzien rejected 10 shots on goal for the Scarlets. Mankato West incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Rochester Mayo totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
